Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT graphicCognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy which is pragmatic, structured and collaborative. The approach aims to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thinking and behavioural patterns. CBT focuses on the “here and now” but can, without dwelling on the past, help clients recognize how early experiences may shape their current thoughts and behaviour. CBT has been shown to help people with various mental health and physical conditions, e.g. anxiety, anger, depression, relationship issues, drug/alcohol issues, chronic pain. We can provide CBT in Glasgow, and also cover Edinburgh and The Central Belt.

You and your therapist will discuss your specific difficulties and your therapist will help you set the goals you wish to achieve; you will not be told what to do. CBT generally involves homework between sessions and your therapist will be able to advise you on how to continue using the techniques you are learning in your daily life after your sessions end.
